Colshaw Hall was commissioned by the Peel family (of textile industry fame), with construction coming to completion in 1903. Over a period spanning almost a century, the red brick Tudor Revival style hall and grounds changed family ownership four times, undergoing architectural expansion, garden upgrades, and other restoration work along the way.
In 2001, the property was purchased by the Irlam family, known for having made its fortune in haulage. The Irlam family set to work on carrying out definitive restoration revisions on the main property. This included converting the outbuildings into modern accommodation and landscaping the gardens to surround the hall with a photogenic English countryside backdrop.
Colshaw Hall is now open for marriage ceremonies, complete with a main hall, dining hall, walled garden, pavilion, overnight guest options, and a separate free-standing hall in which the wedding ceremony itself is held. Additional local en suite accommodation (with secure parking and wifi) is available at The Dog pub in Over Peover, also owned and run by the Irlam family.
Colshaw Hall is an established Cheshire wedding ceremony venue with coordination staff available to help the bride and groom to plan the day down to the last detail. As mentioned, each room offers a double bed and en suite bathroom facilities, meaning your specially selected guests will enjoy a luxurious space in which to prepare for the day and later in the evening retire and relax.

The air-conditioned Peel Suite is a stylish and naturally well-lit function room, complete with a bar, a large dining area, a PA system, and a projector – ideal for wedding breakfasts and wedding receptions. The events coordinators at Colshaw Hall will discuss all aspects of your time in this room with you, including your design ideas, the menu, and entertainment.
The Stables is a free-standing building adjacent to the main hall, giving the impression of an on-site chapel. Designed with splendour and a sense of occasion in mind, the main features of The Stables include oak beams, marble flooring, and leaded windows looking out onto the estate. Additional eye-catching features include a fountain, grand piano, and registrar table.
Toast the bride and groom in style with a wedding reception in the Walled Gardens of Colshaw Hall. The wedding coordinators will help you to put together an intimate reception with food and drink, hosted by the toastmaster. The 300-acre private lands (with secure gates) include a Japanese style garden, miniature lake, and a magnolia garden.
